After his uncle is murdered for not paying the ‘war tax’ imposed by a local street gang, Raul decides to leave Honduras and embark on a journey across Mexico and into the US.

He knows it will be dangerous, but what choice does he have? He can’t stay in Honduras and wait for the gangsters that killed his uncle to come after him and his family. So he takes his cousins and sets off for el norte.

As they travel north, they must cling to the tops of freight trains, while trying to evade immigration authorities and gangsters. Things are tough, but everything is going according to plan. That is, until thugs attack Raul and he falls from the train.

He wakes up on the side of the tracks to find himself without money, without his family, and without much chance of making it to the border alone. With his wits as his only weapon, he is forced to traverse a hostile world overrun with local bandits, drug cartels, and crooked cops. He faces many perils on his journey, but he continues to trudge north, always north, in the hopes of being reunited with his cousins.
