William Wayne “Bill” Dicksion was born the fourth child, and the third son of William Madden, a poor rancher/farmer, and his wife, Almeda, in Oklahoma. “Wayne,” as he was called in his younger days, not to be confused with his father's name, was precocious and trouble was his lot in life. Later, he picked up the nickname "Bill."

The brief moments begin when Wayne is five years old and recorded until he becomes a man being part of the great migration to a new life in rapidly developing California. The time of the Great Depression was sad, but the story does not dwell on the sad; it looks with humor at a time in history when the poor stood tall and proud, with a determination to endure all hardships at any cost, to make America a better place. Many will relate to these stories.
