The author grew up in a small rural community that shaped his future and his ethical values. After graduating high school he began a brief career as a machinist/welder in a foundry in Chattanooga, Tn. Economic conditions forced the company to shut the business down and the author like many of the late 1970 era discovered that he was unemployed with his first born on the way in a matter of months. This is where fate intervened and the author soon discovered that his real talent was working in emergency services.
Thus in 1980 the author began a lifelong journey with a career as a paramedic. The author spent thirty-five years serving the public in various organizations with the Northwest Georgia and Southeast Tennessee regions. College was a reality and the author has earned several undergraduate degrees in biology, business, and healthcare. Two Master of Science degrees were also part of the journey with an MBA and a minor in healthcare management and the other a MS Education specialty in adult education. A Doctor of business administration with a minor in health care management is soon to be completed with the acceptance and publication of his dissertation.
Emergency services were a passion for the author and the dissertation is written with the expectations of achieving the goal of discovering what at the turn of the century an emergency medical service shortage existed. The author currently co-owns and operates a large poultry farm in Old Fort, Tennessee. The rural lifestyle has not been forgotten and the farm is located as some have stated in the middle of nowhere, but the view of the surrounding mountains is spectacular.
