We went on the day on the boat train…I was 7, I had never seen a ship before... it looked very big... everybody was very excited, we went down to the cabin and that's when my mother said to my father that she had made up her mind quite firmly that she would not go to bed in that ship, she would sit up at night... she decided that she wouldn't go to bed at night, and she didn't!

This is the amazing story of how Eva survived the sinking of the Titanic the disaster that claimed the life of her father. The events of a few hours in her childhood had a huge impact on Eva. Her vivid memories of being bundled into a lifeboat and of watching the unsinkable ship slip beneath the surface remained with her for the rest of her life, although it was nearly forty years before she could talk openly about the tragedy.

A Girl Aboard the Titanic is the only eye-witness description we have from a child of most famous maritime disaster.

Eva Hart was one of the most outspoken survivors of the Titanic. She was highly critical of the White Star Line for not providing enough lifeboats to save all of those on board. Eva also made her feelings clear regarding salvage attempts after the wreck was discovered in 1985. She died aged 91 in 1996. Professor Ron Denney and Eva were friends for many years, and they collaborated in writing up her memories.

Includes 100 black and white illustrations.
