In the last several years across the continent of Africa, there has been praise worthy efforts in the direction of church planting. The bad news is that even though we do everything to plant local churches, yet we don't do everything possible to nurture, sustain and make those local churches to thrive.
Today, lots of denominational churches are happy to start local churches just to fester their financial empire! Local churches are seen only as an outstation of the headquarters and their Pastors as station managers. Most local churches have no life of their own and can only function if the headquarters want them to. There is 'over control', over-bearing power and over burdened demand from the headquarters upon local churches! Small wonder then that most local churches are small, stagnant, sick, struggling and suffocating to gradual death under the watch of denominational and apostolic leaders!
There are lots of church leaders with various ideas on what the church should be and how she should function, unfortunately, those ideas don't line up with the revealed truth of the scripture. It is these wrong ideas that have led to the subjugation and stagnation of local churches. If we build according to our whims, prejudices, and human reasons, it will largely be our churches, not His own church! If local churches can be strengthened and given the autonomy to be all that God intended them to be in their localities, then, the gospel will take a giant leap forward.
This book is my humble and prayerful attempt to see such local churches dotting the landscape of every community across our beautiful, but demon-ravaged continent becoming vibrant, healthy and growing according to the will of God.
