A Place to Hide

Carson, a ten-year-old boy was on the run for his life. His Pa had told him his mother and grandfather died while he was fishing for supper. The boy figured it was another lie until he found their graves in the backyard. When his pa drank himself into a stupor, the boy filled a sack with apples and potatoes, got his Pas rifle, saddled his horse Lucky and rode away. He had no idea where he was going but knew he would be dead before morning if he stayed.
