This book describes Becoming A Happy Person, Having A Peaceful Mind and the Thymus Thump.
Some Philosophers describe Happiness as PERMA which is an acronym for:
1.Pleasure (good health, good foods, nice clothes, etc.),
2.Engagement (the flow, the absorption of an enjoyed but challenging activity),
3.Relationships (social ties have turned out to be very reliable indicator of happiness),
4.Meaning (perceived search or belonging to something bigger), and
5.Accomplishments (having realized tangible purposes).
All these are material accomplishments or goals.
True Happiness comes from within.
Happiness is contentment, satisfaction with self, with family and life in general.
Happiness also means loving one-self and having peace of mind.
To love one-self means to accept that the person has the ability to discover ways on how to improve self and how to recover from the mistakes
When the person discovers a small start of happiness somewhere from within, that small start will eventually lead to something else, and to something else.
Then finally the person will find full happiness.
True happiness also means contentment.
When the person is contented with the job the person has, the way the person looks, with the family, the friends, the house the person lives in, the car the person drive, and all the things the person now has, then truly the person knows the answer to what it is to be genuinely happy.
A person must believe that life is about finding out about right and wrong, trying and failing, winning and losing.
Life is not the sweetest candy.
But if the person believes life like it has never done the person any good, the person will never be able to find genuine happiness.
But this should not stop the person from becoming happy.
Happiness is when the person learns to accept his own self and own faults.
It is about performing and making the best out of every single thing.
Being happy actually protects the person from the stresses of life.
A happy, resilient and optimistic life is also good for the health.
To be happy is relatively easy; the person must decide to be a happy person.
Even when the person writes about it now, the person laughs about how stupid the person used to be.
This friend always arrives with a beaming smile on his face.
He was always happy.
This always amazed the writer as he could never understand what the friend had to be happy about.
This was in spite of his poor pay and long hours of work.
They would sit down and talk while eating their lunch and he never had a negative word to say.
When he spoke, he talked with passion, about his work and interests.
One day the writer realized if he can always be positive, happy and smiling, why can not he be the same?
This was the beginning of the writer’s new outlook on life.
Once the writer knows that he must change, he will want to change to a positive thing and a possible attitude in life.
He will to overcome where happiness any obstacles to change to a new and positive lifestyle.
He will learn more from his friend.
By doing so he will be able to give up his old lifestyle and change to a new positive lifestyle where happiness and peace of mind are the norm.
The writer now lives in an era of being positive
He appreciates what he has got and more than anything else, plenty of smiles.
He now is happy with his weight, height, white hair.
He is proud to say that he has now a positive attitude
He also always has a smile on his face like his friend
Abraham Lincoln has beautifully expressed it:
“Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.”
