Trev Hunt was runner-up in the prestigious Mensa 'Poet of the Year' award in year 2012 - in a year of record entries he came second with his poem 'Epitaph', described by the judges as 'moving and evocative'.

'A Variety of Verse' is an incredible collection of the poet's own personal favourites, written over a period of more than fifty years. The poems range from Romantic Love to Comedy, Reflections and Philosophy. And whilst you should be warned that a couple of them are definitely Ribald, there are also poems for Children, written originally for Trev's own family.

These include the amusing 'Jonathon Joseph Finkledump' (gosh he was a silly chump.....) and 'Jennifer Mary Underwood' (a little girl who tried to be good.....) as well as the epic tale of 'Robin Hood and Santa Claus'.

Of 'Robin Hood and Santa Claus' the poet himself says:-
'This poem was originally written for my two sons, on a Christmas Eve many years ago when they were very young and out with their Mum visiting their Grandma and Grand-dad. They are now approaching middle-age, and have children of their own, but it is still a family tradition that, if we are all together, it is read aloud on Christmas Eve. I hope you enjoy it - I do ! Suitable for 4 - 11 year olds, and grown-ups as well.'

To add background and assist the reader to understand why a particular poem came to be, in many instances (as above) Trev relates why, where and when it was written.

To enjoy them, and learn about 'The Wettest Drought on Record', the poet's own romance that blossomed 'By the Banks of the Old River Dove', or 'The Ode to Lulu Belle' who carried with her a portable smell, and many others, you should now buy the very reasonably priced 'A Variety of Verse'.
