A Voyage to Cacklogallinia appeared in London, in 1727, under the pseudonymous author "Captain Samuel Brunt". Whilst the work of satire has been sometimes attributed to Daniel Defoe and Jonathan Swift, the true author remains yet unknown.

The novel is remarkable in that it features one of the first "Voyages to the Moon" later used as a plot device in many Science Fiction works as well as giving the modern reader an insight into the economic conditions prevalent at the time of writing , namely the widespread financial chaos caused by the South Sea Bubble.
