Based on six-years of frustratedly ill-tempered blogging, "Adventures of a Third World Shopkeeper" charts my course through the world of Mexican commerce at the lower, most hardscrabble levels in the Gulf coast port town of Tampico.

I came with dreams, hopes and ambitions - only to have them dashed by the the strength of the resistance to change in the culture and the matriarchy I had married into. Despite there being much good in what I found, there was also much that tried the patience and left one most sorely vexed by day's end.

Yes, I admit to being a curmudgeon. In part, the utter lack of intellectual stimulation (in part, engendered by long hours in a thoroughly listless locale) was responsible and I thank whomever for the internet giving me an outlet.

But now I have moved onto other things, and the memories of my time as a business owner/operator are fading...fortunately!
