Rona, a former guardian angel now bound to Earth, isn’t surprised to learn that Heaven and Hell are at war again. She isn’t even surprised that the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance. She is, however, shocked when her friend Angelica, a messenger angel, asks her to become a guardian again—this time to protect a teenage boy whom demons are after. While Rona doesn’t exactly jump at the chance, the reward—a chance to regain entry into Heaven—is too good to pass up.

Rona finds herself enrolled in high school as a foreign exchange student and forced to play the role of teenager—a part she’s not trained for. Matters get murkier when she finally meets her charge, Virgil, an atheist pothead with more than enough troubles of his own. Adjustment issues, mounting danger, and a mission that keeps growing increasingly complicated cause Rona to ponder whether or not getting back into Heaven is even worth the trouble.
