Angelina Jolie’s acting career knows it’s ascension in 1995. She is acclaimed for her role in Without Evidence (1995), in which she portrays a drug addicted teenager, for the interpretation of a teenage rebel in the film Foxfire (1996) and a young Italian woman in love with the son of a rival family in the film Love Is All There Is (1996).

In 1997 she has a supporting role in the box office movie Playing God, starring David Duchovny and Timothy Hutton. Her television roles bring Angelina extra consideration from critics.

In the same year, for the role of Cornelia Wallace in the TV movie George Wallace in which he is partnered by Gary Sinise, Angelina has been nominated for Emmy Awards and wins a Golden Globe for the first in her career for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

In 1998, Angelina Jolie won her second Golden Globe for her performance in the role of Gia Carangi, in the biopic Gia. The full of dramatic embodiment of the top model addicted to drugs and diagnosed with AIDS, is rewarded with a Golden Globe for Best Actress and an Emmy nomination. Gia is a cult, a manifesto and a story reference. Made in 1998 starring Angelina Jolie and Faye Dunaway, Mercedes Ruehl, and Elizabeth Mitchell, the film relates with realism and without the caution invoked by fashion the comet life of one of the most popular models in the 70s.

Gia Marie Carangi was one of the first supermodels in the generation before Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss and Naomi and the first American woman diagnosed with AIDS. She started modeling after being noticed on the street, the classic story. Shee moved from Philadelphia to New York when he was 17. She worked with famous photographers of that time - Francesco Scavullo, Arthur Elgort, Joseph Petrellis, Marcov Glaviano - and occupied for countless years the covers of Vogue, Elle and Cosmopolitan magazines. She made her career overnight due to her incredible and almost unearthly constitution - tall, thin, with perfect breasts - and her overt masculinity, hidden in a devastating sexuality. In October 1978 she had her first top pictorial with the famous photographer Chris von Wangenheim. She was already taking cocaine at that time, but as unhappiness in love is directly proportional to the success of the model, after the death of Wilhelmina Cooper, Gia started to take heroin too. By the 1980’s, followed by her rise, came her decline. She was asleep at photo shootings or completely missing them. She tried to leave and returned home, at his parents, where he enrolled in a rehabilitation program, which not only helped until he returned to New York for one last job - a Cosmopolitan cover. Doctors discovered she was having AIDS. In the early '80s, Gia was the first woman carrying this disease.
