5 stars ***** The writing is fast-paced and the action is relentless, making this an engaging, thrilling novel that demands to be read in one sitting. (Review InD'tale Magazine June 2015)

Barbed Wire and Daisies is the first book in The Lost Land Series. Set in future rural New Zealand the tale starts in the year 2030 as oil reserves run out. Through a mother’s eyes, we follow two main characters, Gen and Nate, their family and a small community, as they fight the chaos, lawlessness and looting that ensues when city-dwellers leave dwindling supplies and head into the countryside. It soon becomes survival of the fittest.
Gen is a very strong, protective mother who will stop at nothing to defend her family and protect what is hers from the depraved, sometimes cannibalistic survivors who come crawling out of the cities to the countryside, in search of food.
This story has it all: strong emotion, believable characters people can relate to and be rooting for, action, suspense, tears and even the odd funny moment to break the tension. It has a definite Kiwi flavour to it, which is reflected in both the dialogue, and the never give up attitude for which Kiwi’s are well known.
