In 2004, Riverwalk Stadium ushered in a new era of professional baseball in Montgomery. After a more-than-20-year absence, the new ballpark became a catalyst for the revitalization of downtown Montgomery. There is also the forgotten history of an Alabama native, Roy "Goat" Walker, a fan favorite of Montgomery baseball for two generations.
