The dark witches flee from a brutal witch hunt in Germany, hundreds of years ago, and find themselves a new home in Britain. Their feeling of security is short lived, as they are sought out by the sisterhood of mercy, an unforgiving band of devout Catholic nuns sworn to hunting down practitioners of the dark arts. The witches are overwhelmed by the cunning and brutish force of the sisterhood. They go into hiding for centuries and resurface in modern Britain. Old habits die hard, as lady Isabelle breaks the silence and feeds on a human. To keep their dark unnatural abilities, the witches must satiate their bloodlust. This careless act draws the attention of their old enemy. Other supernatural creatures start to spring up from the wood works. They take an interest in a seemingly ordinary young man. The trouble with this is that heaven wants him too.
