After an internecine battle in which several of their superiors are killed, Army Captains Megan Connolly and Farrell Grey are in trouble again. Sent by the Pentagon to Baha, a small state in the Sarawat Mountains of Saudi Arabia, they are to act as cultural representatives only, and are under strict orders to behave. Safely out of the Continental United States (CONUS), their new superiors can breathe a sigh of relief. After all, in such a bucolic setting, what could go wrong? Quite a lot, as it turns out. Trouble finds them, this time in spades. Somali terrorists, lured by the promise of infinite power, have joined with Idi Amin -- the Butcher of Uganda -- to locate the Mandylion, a religious artifact capable of contacting Paradise. Once in their possession, they think, world order will change again. In their favor. No such luck. Modern weaponry is no match for the forces of Heaven, two giant Baluchistani pizza-parlor owners, a trio of German veterans of World War II, a determined werewolf, and our heroines, two thirsty young vampires. The Pentagon will not be pleased. Again. Darn.
