This book will give you information about day-to-day life in a remote tea garden of Assam. I was born in a garden and saw the livelihood of the people of the garden. My father had served as a clerk in that garden for more than three decades, and then we shifted to a little town called Sivasagar in 1978-80 after his retirement.

At present, there are more than eight hundred large tea estates in the state. Most of these gardens were established by the British Ffarmers more than a century ago. The companies were incorporated in the United Kingdom, and shareholders were the citizens of that country. In 1973, the government of India passed Bbills to the Parliament in support to sell 40P.C. stake (shares) amongst Indian nationals.

We played football matches and other games with the children of the tea garden workers during our childhood. The workers are poor, but they are loyal to their master. They lead a peaceful and happy life in these remote tea gardens.

The book is the reminiscence of my past life, and I hope you will enjoy it.
