The poems here are for people struggling to move forward in their lives. The characters in some of the pieces have had substance abuse problems and are trying their best in therapy. Recovery is hard, but they are determined to hang in there. There are also poems for people who have lost their faith and friendship through the years. I wrote 50 Original Poems and Songs for Recovery to tell the stories of people in therapy or for folks who have thought of getting help. The stories range from sexual, physical and emotional abuse to alcoholism, loneliness and co-dependency. The characters in my writings have had a tough time of it, but are determined to get well with perseverance and help from God above.
