The Positive Prime, a book of Poetry (First published 2007) was my first book of poetry that has been idealistically inpired by the lives of my two grandfathers, who represent my "Gemini Twin" spirits. They were, during their lives, very spiritual themselves, so the poems many are idealistic in nature and also have common sense, as was life at their times, as Afro-America men.

WELCOME HOME is a book of beginnings, where to start. After we run here and there in our travels and escapades, we finally return to the only place where we are sure of ourselves and know our needs. WELCOME HOME is a return to “home, where the heart is,” back to basics, and core of our values.

Alternating Views 2.0 is a compendium, or perhaps, more precisely, a compilation of essays of ideas, of comments, and of critiques on a variety of subjects, with no particular rhymes or reason. It suggests what is called today, “thinking outside of the box,” if you will? The essays in Alternating Views 2.0 explain how ideas are not there until they are there.

The “soul food” in this book of poetry tries to reach the inner spirit. We as Black people are mystified in the spirit, the soul of Black people who have endured though it all. With only the thought of the presence of God, “THEY” remained hopeful, and preserved THEIR future that has ensured my (Our) presence here.

Poetry is a voice that must be heard and is a cry from all our spirits for civility. When the spirit wants to speak, it will not be denied. However, when our spirit needs to be heard, it is not just that simple, because we have a spirit that is free to choose to listen to or not listen. Obedience to Poetry is a collection of new poetry that must be shared.

It is extremely difficult to open a discussion on race, even today in America, with the election of an Afro-American President. I cannot and thus, will not try. However, through my poetry here in Legacy of an Ex-slave, I will express my views on matters of race. Slavery is a topic that is difficult to talk about, but out of the due respect for those for who were enslaved, we must!

We are often self-defined by our roles, titles, or even by the labels we are given and even the ones that we assume.
