In the year 3009, 17-year-old Minnesota enrolls at the New Technical Institute in New America, one year following a global AI broadcast that has given all machines and computers near-human intelligence. Despite an almost paralysing fear of artificial intelligence, Minnesota joins the Citizens of Tomorrow robotics club with South Carolina, her twin brother North Carolina, the club's president Montana, his boyfriend Indiana and Name, who seems to be a just a bit unusual.
