This is the second set of Dave Porter Series books. All three books included are the original ones, complete, unabridged, and include all of the original illustrations, rejuvenated. The fourth, fifth and sixth books in the Dave Porter Series were all published just after the turn of the 20th century. They are quite different in plot, but many of the characters are present in all three books. In the fourth book, "Dave Porter in the Far North," Dave learns he has a father and sister, both of whom turn out to be in northern Norway. Obviously, Dave and a friend take off after them. The fifth book, "Dave Porter and His Classmates," find him back at Oak Hall, for another term. Like the other two books that center around Oak Hall, this one is also filled with humor, action, adventure and heroism. The sixth book, "Dave Porter at Star Ranch," sends Dave and a friend west for a summer full of hunting, riding, chasing after thieves, and other adventures. All in all, this is another page-turning collection of Dave Porter stories.

Edward Stratemeyer wrote more than 1,300 books himself, selling over 500 million copies. In addition to 10 Dave Porter books, Stratemeyer wrote seven series with mostly a military nature. He also created Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, The Rover Boys, The Dana Boys, Bomba the Jungle Boy, and Tom Swift. He wrote under seven pen names and employed a number of ghost writers for whom he wrote plot outlines. The "Stratemeyer Syndicate" was a large organization and controlled a number of publishers.
