Excerpt:

Parker froze in his spot like a deer in headlights. He had never seen anything like that creature standing so menacingly just a few feet in front of him. It was way too large to be a dog. Could it possibly be a wolf? It seemed much too big to be one as well. Whatever it was, it didn’t look very friendly. A loud howl echoed in the still night, followed by another one. The second howl was coming from a different direction. Turning his head right, Parker realised that there were two of them, and they were flanking him while inching closer and closer. Looking ahead in the distance, the main road looked like it was miles away.

Through his peripheral vision, Parker could see the grotesque features on the creatures’ faces. He continued to look ahead though, marching forward vainly in the hope that by ignoring them, they’d disappear. As their paths crossed, something snapped in his mind and he made a dash for the main road. The howls roared behind him, the sound a shrill, screeching bellow that sent chills down his spine. It didn’t take more than a couple of seconds before one of them managed to jump on his back, knocking him down, face-first, to the floor.

The force of the blow dazed him, and he could barely think straight. All he knew was that he had to get the hell out of there immediately. He tried to get up but suddenly felt an enormous pressure on his back. The creature had mounted him.

“Should never have associated yourself with him,” the creature hissed, its saliva dripping all over the back of his neck. “Now, I’m going to have to teach you a lesson.”

Parker was petrified. Whatever that thing was, it was speaking. He could barely move, the side of his faced squished against the granite floor by the creature’s paw. Even though he couldn’t see whatever was holding his head down, it felt like it was much larger than his head. Then it started. The breathing, getting heavier and heavier. Another howl pierced the night and Parker felt his shirt being clawed off his back. He shouted out from the pain and struggled to break loose.
