Father Peter Rock happens to be an alcoholic priest, who is getting out of rehab—for the third time in five years. During his third stay at the rehab center, he had a transformation and found a successful method of controlling his sobriety. Bishop Bloom believes Peter cannot handle the pressure of pasturing a church. He believes Peter is best suited as a director of a nursing home for retired priests. There would be less pressure, and there would be other priests there to help Peter if he needed to talk.
