Do No Harm creates an in-depth, thoughtful, and artistically arranged conversation between the voices of the father and son who serve as alternate narrators throughout the book. These nine stories compose a complex duet in which two voices mingle and separate, both delving into their shared pasts, both examining and reexamining their connections to other people, to the places that profoundly affect them, and – always -- to the web of family that binds them. Gary McLouth earned the Doctor of Arts in English degree at SUNY Albany and won the President’s Distinguished Dissertation Award with his first collection of stories, Death and Other Frustrations (1985). Natural Causes (2008) and Do No Harm (2011) build on the promise of that first collection. Gary recently retired from 23 years of teaching at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY. He lives with his wife Providence in Fort Myers, Florida. Ginny Howsam Friedman lives in Dutchess County. She finds inspiration for her paintings in the colors during the change of seasons as well as the grand vistas and the close-ups of nature. George Ulrich has enjoyed a career as a freelance illustrator and children’s book author since his graduation from Syracuse University as an art major. He lives with his wife Suzanne in Marblehead, Massachusetts.
