When the cod stocks crashed back home in Newfoundland, Bren Smith, a fisherman working at the height of the period of industrialized food, found himself on the front lines of the world's climate crisis. He soon began a search for sustainability, and in this lecture he shares his story of ecological redemption. Smith is the founder of the nonprofit GreenWave, which won the 2015 Buckminster Fuller Challenge for sustainability. Smith is creating a hub for the new 3D ocean-farming industry, which will act as an engine for job creation and food justice.
