Her father was a commercial fisherman on the Great Lakes and captain of his own vessel. Her mother was a busy stay-at-home mom raising three daughters, of whom Bev was the youngest. Bev’s parents were both dedicated Christians and imparted God’s truths and values to their children.
In 1968 Bev married Fred Toews, also of Wheatley. The couple had one daughter, Janet, and three sons, Marc, Phillip and Daric.
Her grandchildren were the loves of her life. She had four grandsons—Kevin, Adam, Spencer, Eric—and finally a granddaughter, Rachel.
Bev worked as a healthcare aide at several nursing and retirement homes throughout her career. She was very active in her church, teaching Kid’s Club and working with the seniors’ group.
