It's 2048, and an alien civilization is only a suspiciously convenient wormhole away. While international governments struggle to approach the situation, cybernetics salesman turned billionaire playboy Bob Sakamoto and his friend Ted Decker ignore the bureaucracy, travel through the wormhole, and land on the planet (which they name Groenheid) mere weeks after its discovery. They find what you'd expect - a tolerable climate and many inhabitants.In the ensuing chaos, they befriend the natives and their 19th century technology, build up an industrial center, arm the population with cheap weapons, and so on. Of course, none of the natives were planning for this, so when the only route between Earth and Groenheid mysteriously severs, the planet descends into war, and the protagonists must reopen the route before everyone succumbs.
