Kam had always fought inwardly that age old battle of sexual immorality. Brought up to believe that sex belonged exclusively in the marriage bed, she offered no compromise on the matter. Her almost prudish viewpoint on sex often met with conflict because her husband frequently watched cable television that openly depicted nudity and sexual encounters. She refused to watch them which meant she retreated to the bedroom whenever her husband indulged himself. That is the Kam the public saw, an aging sixtyish woman with a prudish view of sexuality.

However, beneath that public exterior there was a fire burning. Oh! How she longed to be the object of some man’s sexual desire! But she didn’t dare go there. The beliefs ingrained in her from her mother and grandmother wouldn’t allow it. Hell, even if she could Kam didn’t have a clue as to how or where to begin. She was, as the saying goes, sexually naïve.

Despite the perception of openness that Kam’s husband had about sex, the two of them hadn’t been together sexually since the birth of their last daughter. That was twenty something years in the past. Even before that it was a mechanical requirement of their marriage. Other than their wedding night, their sex life was purely reproductive in nature. Kam was on the back burner but she was an explosion looking for a place to happen.

Me? My name is Billy. I’m single. Well, divorced for years. Kam’s husband was a very good friend of mine. I was in their wedding. Now, I know what you’re thinking but you’ve got it all wrong. I would never intentionally compromise a friendship. Kam’s husband and I had known each other all of our lives. We grew up together but, as is often the case, over the years we had gone our separate ways. He and Kam now lived four hours from me, in the city so to speak.
We were concert buddies. Every few months or so I would make the trip to their house and spend the weekend with some concert being the centerpiece of my visit. It was during these visits that I grew to know Kam. My friend was a workaholic and when he wasn’t working he was working out at the gym. More often than not it would be just Kam and me alone. Just like clockwork, as soon as my friend got home he’d have a few drinks while watching the soft porn on television in his recliner. It was there that he often passed out.

As I said, I would never intentionally violate our friendship. Still, seeing his neglect for Kam that was so obvious, I often found my own inner self in turmoil. Kam was what I termed a “looker” or “easy on the eyes.” I can’t tell you how many times I fantasized about having my way with her. But there was that moral boundary. I often told myself that I could and would cross it for Kam but deep inside I knew that it would never happen.

Yes, if Kam was the explosion waiting to happen, I had the match ready to light and set it ablaze.
