The book tells the stories of three women who had the "right stuff" to become astronauts: Valentina Tereshkova, Sally Ride, and Roberta Bondar. The U.S.S.R sent Tereshkova into space in 1963. Twenty years later, Sally Ride became the first American woman to fly in space. In 1992, Bondar flies in space, the only woman on the space team.
