Ebony Kingston is an unusual girl with a unique ability. Abandoned by her uncle as a baby, Ebony has become keenly aware her power isolates her from everyone, including her adoptive parents. Her caseworker, Patrick Farber, finds a security tape of a bank heist Ebony witnessed as a child, and is now almost obsessed with why the main assailant shot himself in front of Ebony. His time with Ebony reveals she has a certain influence on others: she's able to encourage a malevolent drive within her victims to want to kill themselves. Getting too entangled in her life, Patrick ends up helping Ebony uncover her real family’s dark history, in turn finding secrets from his own past he's not ready to face. Uncovering the truth could come at a price for both of them. Patrick could lose his family, and Ebony could lose her life.
