After a union once chiseled into stone is shattered, an entire continent goes to war. The future of three broken empires rests in the hands of a warrior despised by everyone. Unfortunately, this hopeless soldier is imprisoned beneath the fortress of the autocratic enemy emperor. In an effort to rescue the tortured prisoner, a rebellious pixie recruits the help of a dutiful unicorn, a kind-hearted sprite, a gracious naiad, an acrid shape-shifter, and a valiant rodent. Even still, there have been three failed attempts against the palace thus far, and the pixie is still recovering from her own numerous misfortunes. With this is mind, she doesn't feel confident in their plan. Will their plot prove successful, or can matters only get worse from here?
