In the course of publishing this food guide, some restaurants changed ownership, while others simply closed down. And then there were others who have just ventured out and perhaps are not mentioned in this food guide. That’s the nature of this sector where sudden entry and exit is also a reality and the market determines their fate. But it also promotes survival of the best and encourages thinking outside the box. Most importantly, it is the patrons and dining public who determine a restaurant’s survival and success by their presence. And that is the way it should always be as the entire industry moves ahead — striving for perfection.
Doing a food guide is never easy. The entire team worked hard and long hours to try and include as many restaurants, bars and establishments as possible. It was hard work, many meetings and a lot of research. But it was something that we enjoyed as it updated our personal knowledge of the culinary delights that Nepal has to offer. If we missed a certain restaurant that you would like to recommend, we are eagerly waiting to hear about it. We also invite suggestions on how to improve The Himalayan Times Food Guide. They say life is a journey and that the destination is not as important as enjoying every step of the way. As the food industry evolves, we will continue to enjoy being there at every step of this gastronomic journey. Looking back at the last decade, all we can truly say is — it has been one hell of a ride.
