Drake County is a small comma shaped piece of land perched on the northern California cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It is generally a quiet place usually passed over by those monumental historical events that make headlines across America. This is the place where Hobby Glenn, a man with a past, has found the quiet life such men often seek. As a deputy sheriff, Glenn spent his first decade in the county breaking up fights between drunken fishermen and cleaning up the carnage on the twisty coastal highway. But in the last couple of years his quiet contentment has been challenged drastically.

The new country club, situated high on a hill with an unimpeded view of the wide blue ocean, draws mainly high rollers. And it draws the kind of vice that accompany rich men who like to spend time away from their families. Heavy drinking, gambling, and the influx of prostitution have placed a heavy burden on the usually laid back Glenn. His colleagues are becoming more mysterious and belligerent and a new County Attorney is stirring up the Sheriff. Yet, the most troubling of all the most recent events is the littering of dead bodies all over Glenn’s county. The victims are young women and all have one thing in common -- their morals could be called into question.

Francis Hobson Glenn is not a trained crime scene investigator, nor is he a homicide detective, but it is rapidly falling on him to untangle the web of mysterious events and prevent more young women from dying. The pressure is building with each corpse and, to complicate his life further, he manages to do the last thing he needs at this time -- become involved with an irresistible writer of spicy novels -- another potential target for a serial killer.
