Dinner was, once again, a very elegant affair. They talked more this time and it had become as if they had known each other forever.
They laughed together, too. In fact, tonight had been so wonderful that they hadn't noticed how late it had become.
Neither of them seemed to want the night to end, but there was no clear way of how to keep it going.
Finally, they stood up and walked up the stairs. When they reached the top, they stopped to say goodnight.
"I know, I know," Alexander said as he held his hands up in mock surrender. "You can make it to your bedroom all on your own and don't need my help."
They laughed together as she started down the hall towards her room. After she reached it, she went inside and closed the door.
