This guidebook describes “Hiking trail around Mt. Nokogiri 鋸山and Nihonji Temple 日本寺” in Chiba 千葉 prefecture, located next to Tokyo 東京 with many pictures. However, there are many other hiking routes around the trail, this guidebook explains the most recommended one in detail.
From
Hota 保田 Station
via
Nihonji Temple 日本寺
to
Hamakanaya 浜金谷 Station
You could be especially excited to see some great highlights like some huge remains and viewpoints in the mountain. Often changing scenery during the hike such as a suburb, agricultural field, ocean, forest, and the temple is everything but boring. When you go hiking in Japan for the first time, this hike could be much more fun than you expected.
At the beginning of the trail, you easily walk through a flat road around an agricultural field.
The middle of the trail, you go up to Nihonji Temple 日本寺 while watching a relaxing forest and Japanese garden in Mt. Nokogiri 鋸山. There is the huge statue of Buddha 大仏 as a stone sculpture in a natural cliff, and a mysterious huge stone sculpture of Kannon 観音 (the Goddess of Mercy) in a precipice. Historically, Mt. Nokogiri 鋸山 had been a stone quarry for approximately 200 years, but not now. You can see adventurous landforms of the quarry trace that excite your interest.
After you go down and exit from the mountain, you walk to the seaside through a suburb. There are many restaurants and stores at the end of the route. Let’s have a meal and shopping at the end of the hike.
You can go hiking by train from the Tokyo area without any reservation needed for the train. It would be a good idea to go to a hot spring (Onsen) and get a beer after hiking.
Main Purpose of This Guidebook:
I will show you the recommended trail and attractions for hikers to enjoy hiking safely. Before going, it would be a good idea to read the information and look at the pictures such as scenery, signs, and forks in this guidebook, to avoid losing your way and to ensure you have a comfortable experience.
