He had promised ‘for better or worse’….
“I’ve wanted you from the first moment I saw you. I want this to happen.” Her words hovered between them as she pressed up close to him. The lips that met his felt gentle, yet insistent. They demanded a response.
I want this to happen, too.
Mark tried to believe the words – to let his pent-up emotions take full control. He wrapped one hand in her luxurious mane of hair, feeling its fullness. He let the silken strands remain entwined through his fingers as he rubbed his palm down the side of her cheek, all the while tasting the warm softness of her mouth.
As if reading his mind, Keri stroked his arms with long, sensuous movements. The gesture sent a shiver along Mark’s spine. This woman wanted nothing more than to make him happy. And he needed that – more than anything. Maybe just this once… it would be okay. She whispered seductively in his ear, “I want to make this incredible for you.”
And it would be. Of that, Mark had no doubt. He got the impression that Keri knew exactly what she wanted – and how to get it.
What was wrong with that? In most situations, Mark reacted in the same way. But, he was married. When he had promised ‘for better or worse’ he had meant it. Was a shattered marriage enough to warrant breaking a commitment he believed in?
