Every year, millions of people across the world want to get rid of their pale skin and get a tan.  You can see this across the Caribbean and Mediterranean as thousands of holiday makers go a funny shade of red as they burn to a crisp. They risk their health and enjoyment of their holiday seeking this elusive perfect tan.

But it’s not even the sun seekers who are desperate to get the perfect tan, many people go out in to their gardens, hang out at the pool or beach, head to tanning salons or browse the self tanning aisle at the super market in order to achieve the perfect tan without the expensive holiday.

Close to 80% of Americans think they look better with a tan because they are conditioned (mainly by Hollywood) that a tan is healthy and looks good.  Let’s face it, most people think someone with a tan looks healthier and better.  It’s rare to see a celebrity who does sport a great tan these days.

But in recent years the health scares relating to tanning, including skin cancer, have reared their ugly heads and many people are left confused and wondering how to safely get the perfect sun tan without causing themselves any damage.  People still want the tan but without the risks involved.
