The book is an autobiography written as a unique narrative about an American who was born in Yokohama, Japan and lived there throughout WWII. It relates events from the day of the death of our mother in 2005 and then retraces the life story from the beginning starting in the mid 1930s and describes familial details and some aspects of a child growing up as an American in enemy Japan. It elaborates teen years in Japan and life at Punahou School in Hawaii and of courtship, marriage, family and employment with Pan Am and a battle with cancer.
