"How to be Whiter" might as well be the alternative title of this satirical as well as idealistic book, which comments on the widespread market for whitening creams and lotions and the worship of the fair-skinned in darker-skinned lands. But the book goes on to suggest that this is not only a matter of cosmetic preferences, but a reflection of the power balance in the world. It suggests that in the interests of authenticity and non-standardization, that the games underlying the complex relations between white and nonwhite be exposed, and the "rules" made clear.

Review:
"Boldly goes where no Indian writer has gone before."--The Asian Age, Book Pick of the Fortnight.

By the author of :
The Revised Kama Sutra: A Novel ("Very funny"--Kurt Vonnegut) and 12 other books..
