In Deep Salt

Parker, a lone salvage diver on a deep salt passage from the Bahamas to the Caribbean, rescues a small boy floating in the empty seas off Haiti. He changes course to a rarely visited island reported to have a clinic so he can leave the child and move on.
What this wandering ex-marine encounters instead are a strange research hospital with a threatening mercenary guard force, a horribly scarred doctor and a beautiful administrator, frightened islanders, a shark infested lagoon with a grotesque hammerhead, a sensuous barmaid with a Harvard MBA, a death-filled cargo plane sunk out on the reef...and an uncharacteristic concern for both the barmaid and kid’s welfare.
Parker's reaction to a challenging confrontation has always hinged on whether to stay or leave. And yet, his response to a sticky relationship question invariably results in quietly sailing off into the night. But now he finds himself drawn into a dangerous, oddly tangled and grisly mystery. And it all starts with the women.
In Deep Salt revolves around the very real possibility of Haitian ‘boat people’ being ‘hi-jacked’ at sea. However, these folks have nothing and are destitute. Who would do this? And why? As hundreds and thousands continue to be ‘lost at sea’ attempting to flee to America, no one would miss them. Whatever is going on, it’s a perfect screen for somebody. But who? And for what purpose? Parker can smell trouble. He knows something is wrong. Should he leave the kid on the beach and split? Or not?
