“Are you positive you don’t want to come out with us tonight?” Katrina asked Taryn. “We’re going to have a blast!”
“I know, Kat, and I really wish I could, but I’ve got some extra work to do tonight, and if I manage to get it all done, I need to get to bed earlier tonight than I’ve been doing lately,” Taryn replied. “But you all have lots of fun for me, too. Also, I want all the details tomorrow!”
Laughing, the two women hugged and went to their cars in the office parking lot. Taryn turned and sent a final wave to her friend just before getting into her car. Once inside, she started the car and eased out of the parking lot into the traffic. Driving along, she planned out her evening in her head. It wasn’t like her to lie to her friends, but the truth was that she had been really anticipating bedtime lately. If she had told anyone about what was happening with her recently, they would probably have had her committed. There was simply no explanation for any of it. She had nearly given up trying to understand it herself. On the other hand, that didn’t stop her from enjoying this new phenomenon that recently entered her life.
