Sarah has left him and Martin’s life is spiralling out of control. Now Jamie is dead. Where in the hell had it all gone wrong? Nothing had been the same since the band broke up. Things were bad now but Sarah and Jamie were just an unhappy coincidence. Life choosing to kick him in the nuts a few more times for good measure.
Rich thinks there’s more to it than that, something sinister, something evil.
He believes a song killed Jamie ad that the song will kill him too. He believes that Martin is the only one who can help him.
But Martin can’t even help himself ...

“Look, Rich. Whatever you’ve both been taking, now is not a good time for me. Mono must have told you about Sarah?”
Rich shook his head.
It was a punch to the gut. “She’s left me.”
Rich ignored him. “The song killed Jamie. He listened to it then killed himself.”
Martin blinked, thought he’d misheard for a moment. “Sarah, I said―”
Rich stepped forward and grabbed Martin by the lapels of his military jacket. Martin was surprised by the strength in Rich's grip. “I know what you said. It doesn’t matter. The song, Martin, it’s why I asked you to come. I... I’m sorry about Sarah, but this is much bigger...”
Martin had an urge to smash Rich in the face but he did nothing. If he had shown the same restraint with Sarah then maybe they would still be together. “Get your hands off me,” he said as calmly as he could manage.
Rich let go and stepped away, croaking an apology.
