I started my website www.ianrodwell-limited.com on 1 February 2012 (1212) to help people with their lives to give back some of my experiences I have gained through a life that has proved to be rich and rewarding.
I have worked around the world in my native England, and in Scotland, the island of Jersey, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Qatar, Kuwait and Istanbul in Turkey. I have worked and shared my life with people from so many different countries too. I am a chartered surveyor and have met and conquered many management challenges throughout my nearly 40 year career.
The focus of my blog posts on my website has been to help people have better working lives. To get to what I call Working Wow, that state when work is a pleasure and a breeze.
I also give advice and tell of my personal experiences in other areas of my life to help you too. Also the odd joke or pithy comment to hopefully make you smile. Working overseas and meeting people from other countries has certainly raised a few laughs along the way.
This book is the first of 50 blog posts from my early days of my website (during 2012) combined together to pass on to you some of what I have learned.
This book gives insights into (amongst many other things) that will really push your career on to new heights:
The right questions to ask
How to improve at interviews
Goal setting techniques
An introduction to Brian Tracy and Steve Chandler
The importance of lists
How to use mistakes to move on in life
Why teams are vital
Stop holding on to thoughts that no longer serve you
Change your mind, change your life
The importance of taking action now
The 80-20 rule
Overcoming fears
Brainstorming
Focused job hunting
Visualisation techniques
Where you can go to university whatever your age for free
Useless labels
And much, much more
The title of the book comes from the fact that when I started my website/blog I had so few visitors that I felt like it was just me and the crickets.
This book is one of a series (that is ever expanding) but the series list so far is:
Just me and the Crickets
I Don’t Expect You to Grow Flowers in the Desert
Last Writes from an Arab Spring
Lonely Heart Seeks Comments
Every Blog has its Day
Only Blogs and eBooks Work
