People do not respond to even the best planned learning plan in exactly the way we want. In fact, the harder we try to force individuals to fit a formal program the more likely we will meet with resistance. After all, the very concept of learning in a formal, organized, and structured setting is barely a century old. For centuries people learned through many paths, to create, invent, build, design, grow, and construct the world around them.

So this book is not about the technical, process oriented view of learning. We are not going to explore how to write a better learning objective or structure a better lecture. What we are going to do is look at learning from the perspective of regular people, non-educators, who succeeded in life to one degree or another, and have something to share from their perspectives.
