Step through a portal into another world. Earth like, except for the carnivorous parrot lizards and a few meat eating trees. The medieval culture has many similarities with the ancient cultures of the earth. This is a good thing for Kent, a perpetual student and reenactor. At thirty eight, he finally ends his schooling, having run out of money in the trust fund. Just in time to find himself leading a group of earthlings across a barbarian landscape.
He isn't leading them alone. Kraln, with his warriors, happens to be in charge. Kent is just trying to blend in with the natives and watch out for the others like him.
Unfortunately, his very existence leads him into conflict with the King and once again he heads out, leading not only the earthlings, but over a dozen families and a hundred warriors into a new land, to build a home for themselves.
Once there, he finds the land occupied by a yet another enemy. Kent must find a way not only to survive, but to make peace with those around him, including the native race, The Children.
Somewhere along the line he manages to pick up a Wizard, a twelve year old Samurai girl named Tina, piss off Doris, a business woman from Chicago and get engaged to a sixteen year old native girl, Mara.
School did not prepare him for this.
