Rachael wishes only to raise and care for her 5-year-old son, Timmy, as best she can. Timmy’s father, Cal, abandoned them when Timmy was barely three. Money is tight, but Rachael manages to keep afloat thanks to her good friend and agent, Phil. She only hopes that Cal never returns. Thanks to him, she will never trust again. Raising Timmy on her own is a happy time for her. That is until her young son starts suddenly waking from dreams of a killer knight. 
 
Michel of Banesford loses all that he knows when he stalks a ruthless killer into the future. Ruford was one of Lord Henry’s most trusted knights. Now he is a murderer of young maidens who kills on each night of the full moon, the waxing, the full, and the waning. Michel has made an unbreakable vow to stop Ruford, whatever the cost. Michel soon finds himself in a new and disconcerting world. When he sees two knaves dragging a woman into a forested area, his knightly code commands that he protect her. While facing off the common thugs, he watches the woman escape to a tall stone dwelling further along the street. It is here he goes to ask for shelter from the storm. Against all common sense, Rachael grants Michel shelter for the night. One night turns into several, then weeks as Rachael aides Michel in his search for Ruford. Though there is an attraction between them that cannot be denied, Rachael dares not trust. Her first concern is to keep Timmy safe, but Timmy’s nightmares are more than what they seem. Only he possesses the key to finding Ruford. If only they can discover what it is.
