As first-year dresses and onesies were gathered and laid out on a bed to create a pattern for a very special quilt, I began to ponder how God created the universe. While I had to manipulate all the pieces to design the quilt, God only had to speak and the heavens and the earth were formed from absolutely nothing. Thus my journey began.
Through each process of making this important quilt for my great-niece, God kept sending me mental reminders of how He dealt with humans in the same fashion as I was dealing with the quilt.
God has had to come behind man throughout history and unravel the messed up stitches they have made in the tapestry of life. He does it through forgiveness and love.
There have always been and will continue to be consequences for our actions, just like there are consequences for lacking focus or trying to create shortcuts while making a quilt.
Humans tend to constantly need God’s help in making decisions. Quilters seek God's guidance as well as assistance from people in their lives.
Lessons from the Quilt is a true story of how an idea to create a quilt for my twenty-month-old great-niece transported my mind and my heart into a deeper love and appreciation for the wonders, mercy, and grace of God.
