“Seize the Day” by Saul Bellow was first published in 1956. It was the author’s fourth novel. The novel is considered to be one of the greatest novels of 20th century.

The book was written in 1950s which was a kind of formative period during which the middle class in the United States was being created.

Wilhelm Adler, aka Tommy Wilhelm, is the central character. The story of the novel describes a day in his life. He happens to be a failed actor. He is in his forties. He is going through hard times: he is unemployed and impecunious. He has been separated from his wife. She does not agree to a divorce. He is away from his children and his father.
