Living on the Coldwater Road depicts the struggles for young Maiden Rose. She was known in the community as the last single daughter in the family. Things were about to change. She had met the answer to her prayers, the man she was going to marry. He was about to meet her parents on that fateful day, December 7, 1941. President Roosevelt would later proclaim it as a date that would live in infamy. It was news that sent shockwaves across the nation. For Rose, she had big news of her own. Nothing or no one could deter her from her well-laid plans. Following a brief courtship, it was wedded bliss for her and her husband, John Robert. An unexpected letter from the United States Government put a crimp in her plans. Matters became more complicated when the birth of her first child clashed with John Robert's call to active duty. She was forced to return to the Coldwater Road, a place she swore never to return. Meanwhile, John Robert has answered his Country's call to war and is headed into battle. His Infantry Division ends up in Northern France. He is injured on the battlefield and left for dead.
