This is a real-life story told by my grandma, which is her memoir actually. She experienced years of terrible drought and starvation in southern Fars, Iran. She used to tell me her stories, her pains and anything happened to her during her 80-year life and it impressed me enough to gather and write the bitter part in one short book. She lost some of her children when they were starving in their flea-beaten village and decided to migrate to their nearest town of Abadan. Grandpa found a good job in Oil refinery and life was not bad. However, They had another tragedy and lost 2 sons and a daughter drown in sea. Then my grandparents made another decision to come back to their hometown,Galedar, as if they wanted to escape from here to there, looking for a loaf of bread, looking for somewhere devoid of hunger and illness. Finally, they come to terms with life especially upon giving birth to their last child, my mother. Give-up meant nothing to them and, together, they tried their best to keep the candle of life burning.
I disclaim that this memoir can be 100% true; some exaggeration or unreal names are included.
